MiniQuad where i Plan to combine carbon tubes and 3d printed parts

I have been working on a new miniquad project where I did plan to use VRBrain controller, but now I must redesign it for the new VR Micro Brain :-)

I plan to use:

- 16mm carbon tubes (so I can mount ESC inside the tubes)

- 20A Slim Afro ESC

- SunnySky 2204s 2300Kv motors

- HQ Prop 6x3 Carbon Composit Props (some info on the motor/prop combo)

- VR Micro Brain :-)  + GPS +…

CTX4 V2 - first test

Today I did the first test with my new CTX4 V2 (VRBrain 4.5 + external IMU)

Did some simple test in my garden + alt hold, loter and auto land - no probles, and wery stable.

My great VRBrain controller is running code from today (10.10.2013)  (used Eclipse to pull and build the latest code from Emilie, that does an impressive…

CTX4 V2 build - step 2

Almost done :-)

I do not use bullet connectors on the ESC to motor cables, so I connect the cables like this while testing.

First, I test if the rotation directions are correct, by connecting the “servo” cable to the throttle channel on my rx. If the rotation direction is wrong, I swap two of the three cables between ESC and motor.

My ESC`s are flashed with SimonK, so before I disconnect the RX, I calibrate the ESC. Disconnect LiPo,…

CX4M (VRBRAIN mini quad) - cad drawings finished

To better test if the design is ok, I made a simple VRBRAIN cad model to mount in my frame.

I found that I had to do some changes to fit the controller.

In this image I have used 10mm spacers between the center plates - I may test other lengths -…

How I turned my Futaba T10 radio into a pro level telemetry radio

Earlier my plan was to mount my Galaxy Nexus 7» tablet on my radio, but I decided that the Nexus7 is too large and heavy for this.

Therefore, I decided to use my Samsun Galaxy S III phone in this project. I have used the same type of back cover so it is simple to add/remove the phone on the…

Testing my quad using VRBRAIN + LEA-6 GPS

After a long time with wind, rain and snow, the weather turned in my favor, so I was able to test my frame using my great VRBRAIN + LEA-6 GPS.

The quad feels very responsive and stable (using the latest firmware). Tested standard mode, simple mode, alt hold, loiter and auto land – all without any problems.

Did not have…

VrDroidRC Building Log (portable radio tx control with integrated ground station)

I´m going to start testing Roberto´s New VrDroidRC Android app.

To have a platform where I can use my Nexus 7 tablet as a combined Ground Station and radio (using AndroPilot or VrDroidRC), I have made a combined Nexus 7 dock and enclosure to mount the electronics.

Maybe later VrDroidRC have telemetry and FPV support, so I don´t have to use AndroPilot ?

Here I have mounted a G10 plate and some 30mm standoffs on the back of a Nexus 7 protective back-cover…
